Tsukimachi Falls is a famous tourist spot in Daigo Town, with a height of 17m and a width of 12m. It is also known as "Urami-no-taki" (waterfall viewed from behind) or "Kuguri-taki" (passing-through waterfall) because one can go behind the waterfall without getting wet. In winter, it sometimes freezes into an icefall. Normally, it appears as a pair of two streams, a "husband-and-wife waterfall," but when the water volume increases, a smaller stream appears, forming a "parent-and-child waterfall." For this reason, it has long been a place for "Nijusan'ya-ko" (a religious gathering on the 23rd night of the lunar month) to pray for safe childbirth, child-rearing, and good fortune.
