Cherry Blossoms at Sakura Sports Park: Ryuseidai, Tsukuba City

Sakura Sports Park in Tsukuba City is a comprehensive sports park in Tsukuba City with facilities such as a baseball field, tennis courts, a gymnasium, a playground, and the Ryuseidai mountain bike course. The origin of 'Sakura' (cherry blossom) comes from the former Sakuramura village office, which was located here before the merger, and there are many Somei Yoshino cherry trees (some weeping cherry trees) in the park. Highlights include the parking lot next to the baseball field, the park plaza on the left side of the entrance, and the cherry blossom avenue from the entrance to the gymnasium.
The photo shows the cherry blossom blooming scenery of the park plaza on the left side of the entrance, from the corner of the facility entrance. There are many relatively old Somei Yoshino cherry trees. It's a grassy plaza where families can spread out leisure sheets and enjoy cherry blossom viewing.

Takasaki Nature Forest is divided into several areas, and in April, when many double cherry blossoms planted in the Cherry Blossom Forest bloom, a cherry blossom tunnel is formed. It is also a cherry blossom viewing spot in Tsukuba City where moss phlox and weeping cherry trees bloom in the Honobono Plaza, and Somei Yoshino cherry trees bloom in the Play Forest.

It is a sightseeing spot for cherry blossom viewing with 153 cherry trees planted at Fukuoka Weir, one of the three great weirs of Kanto, and is connected to an approximately 1.8km cherry blossom avenue (about 600 cherry trees) selected as one of Ibaraki's Top 100 Tourist Attractions. The Fukuoka Weir Sakura Festival is held annually.

Kamisugama Hachiman Shrine is a shrine located in Kamisugama, Tsukuba City. It is situated a short distance north of Saiko-ji Temple along National Route 45 (Tsukuba-Moka Line). Somei Yoshino cherry trees are planted along the approximately 100-meter approach from the torii gate to the main hall, and they are lit up with lanterns at night during the flowering season. There is also an old weeping cherry tree near the torii gate.

The cherry blossom avenue leading to Kamisugama Hachiman Shrine is approximately 110m long, with old Somei Yoshino cherry trees on both sides. The photo shows the view towards the main hall from around the 60m point, with the main hall about 50m further.
The main hall is not particularly large, but the cherry blossoms cover the entire front, obscuring the view ahead. While the 100m cherry blossom avenue is impressive, this particular sight is a reason for its popularity. This is because one cherry tree blooms as if creeping along the ground.

Ryūfukuji Temple is a Shingon-shu Buzan-ha temple in Ajiki, Tsukuba City, with the mountain name and temple name Ichijōin. Ichijōin Ryūfukuji Temple has three magnificent weeping cherry trees. It is said that one of these old trees protected the main gate from fire during a fire in 1936. It is about 100m from Ajiki Jizōzakura.

Omonoi Weeping Cherry Blossom: A Giant Cherry Tree Spot in Tsukuba City

The Omonoi Weeping Cherry Blossom is a grave-guardian cherry tree in Omonoi, Tsukuba City. It is said to be an Edo Higan weeping cherry tree with an estimated age of 400 years. Although a portion of the upper branches has been pruned, it is a magnificent weeping cherry tree with good vigor.
The grave where this cherry tree is located belongs to a local private residence on the opposite side of the road. Photography and registration for this site have been approved, but please view it from the field path or the roadside. Photography by visitors is permitted, but please do so with consideration for privacy. Also, there is no parking. The road in front is Ibaraki Prefectural Road 123 Tsuchiura Bando Line, which has heavy traffic, so roadside parking is dangerous. We recommend asking a nearby convenience store for permission or using the Omonoi South Training Center parking lot (approx. 300m: map).
