Around 4:00 AM on March 14, 2025, we covered the status of the northern migration of swans at Enshu Pond and Ikehana Pond.
Enshu Pond has already completed its northern migration, while Ikehana Pond has already begun its northern migration, with 19 swans remaining.
The 19 swans should undertake their northern migration in the morning within a few days.
Swans that overwintered in Ibaraki Prefecture will stop in Hokkaido and arrive in the Kamchatka Peninsula and Siberian taiga region from April to May to engage in breeding activities. Around December of this year, they will return to Enshu Pond and Ikehana Pond accompanied by new families.

※The photo shows them seemingly adjusting for flight before their journey. Every few minutes, several swans would take flight, circle above the pond, and then land again. Swans migrate at night. Please see the separate page on Reasons for Swan Migration.
